Welcome to My Percussion Pathway

Welcome to My Percussion Pathway

I'm Spencer, a professional percussionist and educator with a passion for helping others develop sound technique, musical confidence, and a deeper understanding of the instrument. I've taught at multiple institutions, performed in a wide range of settings, and built My Percussion Pathway to share what I've learned with a broader community.

Whether you're a student navigating your first ensemble placement, a band director looking for practical solutions, or a percussionist refining your technique, this blog is for you. I'm excited to share a space where percussion education can be clear, actionable, and rooted in real-world experience.

In this blog, you'll find:

  • Technique breakdowns that emphasize clarity, stability, and consistent sound production

  • Tuning guides and gear insights that simplify complex decisions

  • Practice strategies that prioritize musicality and long-term growth

  • Video walkthroughs and visual aids to reinforce core concepts

  • Posts on pedagogy, physics-informed movement, and waveform alignment to deepen your understanding and refine your approach

My approach is grounded in the belief that percussion technique should feel natural, sound excellent, and serve the music first. You won't find fluff or flash here - just proven methods, clear explanations, and a focus on helping you or your students make real progress.

This blog will also act as a companion to the lessons, courses, and resources on My Percussion Pathway, my digital education platform. Whether you're reading a quick tip before rehearsal or digging into a deeper post on tone production, I hope you leave with something useful.

Thanks for being here. Let's build a pathway to better percussion together. If there's a topic you'd like to see covered, a question you've been wrestling with, or a concept you're curious about, I'd love to hear from you - feel free to reach out and suggest it!
