Spencer Teaches Garden City High School Action Shot.png
  • Confidence, accountability, and responsibility in weekly routines

How I Teach

  • Along with my feedback, students also learn how to think critically about their work, learning the same processes that they can use for the future. Essentially, students learn how to become their own teacher so that they can be self-sufficient.

  • Along with old-school methods, I use technology-enhanced methods of creating visual feedback from self-recording, giving students an advantage over others who don't know the methods I teach.

  • I leverage my extensive percussion library to provide all the sheet music that students would need in order to strategically target the student's weaknesses, as well as to find the perfect piece that shows their strengths in their next performance.

  • Mindset training based on proven "Psycho-Cybernetic" principles to get students out of their own way for maximum success in their goals, music-related or not! Change cannot happen when the student does not believe that they can change!

  • Online option for make-ups when needed. I will do everything I can to make sure the student is set up for success!

True Versatility For Student's Needs

Throughout my musical development, I have made a significant effort to ensure that I am well-rounded and versatile to as many instruments as possible.

Meet Spencer

Classically Trained, Modern in Approach:

Your Guide to Comprehensive Percussion Education.

My name is Spencer Hugh Perilloux. I believe that music education is one of the most powerful ways to unlock our potential as creative, problem-solving individuals.

My mission at Huron Valley is to give percussion students the focused, one-on-one support they need to thrive. In a large band program it is easy for percussionists to feel overlooked. Lessons fill those gaps by helping each student build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, and set meaningful goals. Whether you are just starting out in middle school or preparing for All-State and Solo & Ensemble at the high school level, I provide clear, accessible instruction tailored to each player’s needs.

I bring both elite training and real-world experience to this mission. As a professional percussionist and a faculty member with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensembles, I work with aspiring musicians every week.

I hold a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Michigan, and I am dedicated to providing the tools that enable any student with the right work ethic to discover their full potential through percussion.
